I am a coauthor of the book "Mathematics of Epidemics on Networks: from exact to approximate models", along with Istvan Kiss and Peter Simon

Epidemics on Networks (EoN)

I developed the python package "Epidemics on Networks" using networkx to simulate epidemic spread in contact networks.

Edge-Based Compartmental Models

Building on early work by Erik Volz, I adapted some equations he derived to produce a simplified approach to SIR-like spreading processes. This "Edge-based Compartmental Modelling approach" has been widely used. It dramatically reduces the number of equations required to simulate spreading processes in a network.
